Jaipur based star fashion designer Ashna Vaswani is climbing up on the fame ladder and may soon take over the Bollywood Fashion Diaries with her edgy designer wear. This beautiful designer is working with stars like Sunny Leone and has stolen the limelight with her coveted fashion sense. Ashna completed her B.Sc in fashion from INIFD, Jaipur and went ahead to pursue her BFA in Applied Arts from the Rajasthan University. Apart from being the topper in both colleges, she has also completed a course in Fashion Designing from the prestigious NID, Ahmedabad. Where India Connects is in conversation with the designer —

Ashna, Tell us about your latest endeavors?

I was recently engaged in a rampwalk for the Jaipur Couture Show, where i was chosen for the grand finale. I showcased my latest Victorian and Gothic collection on stage with the show’s toppers being Bollywood celebrities- Rahul Roy, Ritu Shivpuri and Monica Mary Mane. I also came up with a resort wear line for Sunny Leone for the show Splitsvilla and the hit song Barbie doll. My designs have also been worn in the movie Tera Intezaar and I have been approached to feature my clothing in another upcoming movie.

Can you tell us about your inspiration for your latest collection?

My latest collection Victorian 21 is an amalgamation of two wildly different moods – Victorian and Bohemian, to portray luxurious yet flirtatious wearable art. My latest collection is for those fashion divas who are a mix of both stylish and bold, sophisticated but daring. The material and accessories accentuate not only a woman’s figure but also her personality. Sharp lines, strong structures and strokes are inspired by the Victorian era while the Bohemian grounds my line into the 21st century.

How far do you think your college can take you in the field of fashion?

I think no college can ever teach you to be creative, yes, of course it exposes you to a lot of competition and propels your career but designing in its true sense is an art that you can only master by yourself. so no worries to all those who couldn’t get into big colleges.

What message would you like to put across to the youth today?

My advice to all the women out there is to wear their attitude on their sleeve and to wear garments that make them feel comfortable. Comfort is  the new chic and self is the new style statement.
