Forty-five-year-old Dharam Singh Meena of Siddharth Nagar enrolled his four years old daughter, Shanvi into Jaipur’s St. Anselm School with big dreams of her bright future. But his dreams came crashing down on Tuesday morning when a speeding crane ran over Shanvi, cutting oven her little head., near Malviya Nagar.
“Meena parked his bike and was crossing the road to drop his daughter at the school. Suddenly a crane machine hit the father and daughter. While father was flung on the footpath, Shanvi got stuck in the hooks of the crane and was crushed to death,” said a police official from accident police station (East), adding that the girl was profusely bleeding and succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
The driver of the crane, identified as Ajay Singh (22), made an attempt to flee from the scene. However, cops and people nabbed and handed him over to the police.
“The accident was very severe. The body of the little girl was crushed into pieces. Meena had high hopes for her daughter. He wanted her to receive a good education. She was a brilliant student and had joined the school a few months ago,” a relative of Meena told.
The father-daughter duo was badly injured. Shanvi’s body was handed over to the family after autopsy.
This incidence once again marked inefficiency of police, It was an avoidable death. Police are ought to safeguard pedestrians from uncontrolled heavy vehicles and such reckless behaviour can yield some serious dangers and loss.
