There was a time when cars were a luxury and there were very few spotted on roads. Well, the situation has changed drastically over course of last 10 years. It has changed so much that the Jaipur Regional Transport Office (RTO) has run out of RJ-14 registration series for the five-seater vehicles.
The RTO only has twenty thousand registration number left from RJ-14 series and these are supposed to last for around four months. 80% of the vehicle sold in Rajasthan is of five-seaters and right now RTO is using RJ-14 series numbers with CX, CY and CZ.
Once these are depleted, RTO will launch a new series with RJ-45 for the registration of five-seater cars in Jaipur. The new series will have twenty batches and each batch will have 9999 registration numbers. With five thousand vehicles registered every month in the city, RJ-45 series will drain out in approximately 3 years.
