Curfew in 4 Police Stations of Jaipur after heavy violence in Ramganj area of Jaipur

After heavy stone pelting on Friday night in Ramganj area of Jaipur, curfew has been imposed in four police stations, namely, Manak Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Galta Gate and Ramganj police station. The violence caused disruption with few police officials getting injured, an ambulance and Chetak patrol jeep was damaged too.

All this happened after a cop allegedly hit a woman with a stick.
A cop on while discharging his duty under section 60 of Police Act detained a youth from Ramganj. The youth reportedly misbehaved with the cop and one female relative of youth also started a verbal attack on the cop. A stick carried by cop allegedly hit the women. The family went to police station and within minutes a huge crowd gathered.

“Curfew has been imposed till further orders in Manak Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Galta Gate and Ramganj police station areas of the city following violence in which a police station was attacked and vehicles burnt,” Commissioner of Police Sanjay Agarwal said.

Tear gas and lathi charge were used to control the violent mob. The district administration in order to maintain law and order had to impose a curfew. Post the rampage, mobile internet services have also been turned off in the curfew areas.
